Special Courses

There are some subject areas that the School deems to be specialized areas and these require more in depth knowledge and training. The School covers these topics in Special Courses.

Students are not permitted to work in these areas until they have completed the Special Courses that relate to these areas.

The Special Courses that the School conducts are in the following areas:-

• Stress Management
• Human Sexuality
• Self Hypnosis
• Pain Management
• Regression

Stress Management and Human Sexuality Courses are held in one weekend. Self Hypnosis and Pain Management Courses are held in one weekend. The Regression Special Course is held over one weekend. Students must have completed Manuals 1-5 before attending the Stress Management / Human Sexuality Special Course Weekend.

Location

These Special Courses are held in either Thames or Hamilton.

Timetables

The Courses usually start at 6.30 on a Friday evening and finish at 4.00 on the Sunday.

Meals & Accommodation

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided by the School. Students are required to source their own meals and accommodation.

Stress Management Course

Stress Management is a natural part of the hypnotherapeutic process therefore this course is held before the Practical Module 1. This is a theory only course and covers the following areas:-

• The nature of stress
• Stress Factors
• The effect of stress on the individual
• The effect of stress and life changes
• Setting goals to eliminate and handle stress
• Stress Management
• Stress and Hypnotic Intervention
• The promotion of relaxation classes

Human Sexuality Course

Hypnotherapist's often encounter sexual problems in clinic work therefore this Course is held before the Practical Module 1. This School believes that it is important that hypnotherapist's have a wide knowledge of the theory of human sexuality and most importantly how to deal with sexual problems in the hypnotherapy clinic. It is a theory only Course and covers the following areas:-

• Sexual anatomy and definitions of sexual behavior
• Sexuality groups
• Deviations from the norm
• Sexual activities and sexual drive
• Sexual abuse
• Sexual dysfunction
• How sexuality applies in the hypnotherapy clinic
• How to discuss sexuality matters with clients
• Hypnotic intervention for sexual problems
• Therapy writing for sexual problems

Self Hypnosis Course

This Course is a mixture of lectures, demonstration and practice. Hypnotherapist's will often teach their clients self hypnosis for a variety of presenting problems so it is important that students know how and when to do this. Students get the opportunity to practice with members of the public. This Course covers the following areas:-

• Reasons for teaching self hypnosis
• Assessing whether a client is suitable for learning self hypnosis
• Explanation of self hypnosis to the client
• A self hypnosis programme
• Self hypnosis sessions with a client
• A self hypnosis programme
• Planning a self hypnosis programme with a client
• Evaluating a client’s response to learning and practicing self hypnosis
• The making and use of self hypnosis cd’s
• Writing therapy suggestions for self hypnosis

Pain Management Course

Working with pain management is a very specialized area and requires a high degree of skill in implementing hypnotic techniques for pain management and formulating a pain management programme to suit the individual’s client’s needs and circumstances. This Course is a mixture of lectures, demonstration and practice. Students practice with each other and also with members of the public. This Course covers the following areas:-

• Hypnotherapeutic pain management
• First interview with a client for pain management
• Safeguards when using pain management
• Different sorts of pain that can be managed
• Induction methods for pain management
• Depth of trance required
• Glove anesthesia
• Painless childbirth
• Triggers, use of cue words
• Use of self hypnosis in pain management
• Use of cd’s in pain management
• Therapy writing for pain management

Regression Course

Regression is not a hypnotic practice that is used widely in practice however it is a very effective tool which hypnotherapist's use from time to time. It is important that students are able to assess when it is necessary to use regression and most importantly that they can use it effectively. There is a high degree of skill level in working with regression. Therefore this topic is covered exclusively in one weekend. The Regression Course is a mixture of lectures, demonstration and practice. Students practice with each other and also with members of the public. The Course covers the following areas:-

• Why use regression
• True hypnotic regression
• Testing for the possibility of hypnotic regression
• Regression techniques
• Going back in time in this life
• Going back in time to a past life
• Linking the past events to present day problems or activities
• Equipment and apparatus used when conducing regression
